Hand Jam

Baby Joel is learning that these appendages flying around his head are a part of him... arms we call them... and he's focusing more and more on trying to control them. He usually keeps his fists tightly closed and shakes them around or tries to steady them against each other. Very cute. Oh, and now he does sneaky random grabs at things with these poorly controlled limbs of his... these little stunts surprise him as much as they impress us.

So I am not a superstar mom who gives her kids daily baths. I bet I'm not the only mom out there with this confession... Anyway, in the bath the other day I pried Joel's tight little 3-month-old fists open and behold... hand jam. Everyone has heard of toe jam, but I had never heard of hand jam before. The little creases in his hands can apparently store up quite a little amount of toe jam-like material. Huh.

Lately I've been prying open his 2 little clams looking for what treasures he might be holding on to. I almost never come up empty-handed. :)

Hi, Deb. I don't usually bathe my kids daily either. Every other day is my speed. Have you ever found "neck jam"? That's fun too. Yuck. :P

Have a nice weekend!

baths? do people still do that?? heh.

washing instructions that came with my kids: 'wash as needed with warm water and mild cleanser, pat dry' <- i take the as needed especially seriously. ;)

yeah, we find 'jam' in all crevices - hand jam, neck jam, toe jam, knee pit jam, arm pit jam, elbow pit jam... yeah, you get the idea.. :D

Hand jam? That's disgusting.

Micah was also a big collector of hand jam. I remember the first time I found it, I felt like a really bad mom because I hadn't ever thought to clean between his fingers. I assumed all moms just automatically knew this and I was not as smart as them. . . glad to know I'm not the only one!!

Love the blog!!

Sometimes we have to do the sniff test to decide if the bath need is dire enough or not, sad but true. We find that body jam all over the babies. I at least try to give baths before seeing my parents or in laws so that I am the one who finds the dust collection.
