New Blog Site

So Dave asked me today if he could set up a blog site for us... while I was getting lunch ready... and I said "sure", thinking we would eventually get around to this. And viola, in a matter of minutes he had this site up with a picture posted already!! Bravo, sweetie. So we're hoping this will be a great way to stay connected with family and friends.

Dave is off to work today at his new job site. He's still with Starbucks but switched to the Downtown store and will be working as a shift supervisor. He'll be spending a lot less money on gas and lot more time with us given the store's close proximity to our house. Praise the Lord!

Baby Joel is now 10 weeks old and much to his mother's delight is meeting age-appropriate milestones... and best of all likes to sleep swaddled up for 7 hours straight through the night! I'm almost guaranteed sleep from 10p to 5a. This is a dream come true for this new mom! For Joel, the key really is wrapping him up well for bedtime so his arms can't fling all about. If I fail to swaddle well, it's back to awakenings every 3 hours.

Baby Joel David pretty much looks like David - wonderful in my opinion, and even more so since he carries Dave's name. He is adored by 2-yr-old brother Daniel as well, especially since Joel can't steal his toys yet. Daniel now regularly offers his small toys to Joel to hold but hasn't quite figured out why baby can't hang on to them.

I'm thinking it would be fun to post a "Story of the Day" or "of the Week". You know, something amusing the kids say or do... Since this is my first time to blog, there's oodles I could write about Daniel and his recent sayings and doings. Here are some of my favorite Danielisms lately... he calls Dave "DAVE" (much to his chagrin) or "honey" (pronounced "Hhhun - Neee" with a big smile afterward) in immitation when he hears me talking to David, . The ABCs song contains the letters A,B,C - Q,R,S - W,X,Y,Z and can be sung in about 3 seconds (it's fun to hear, I wonder if I can post sound bites). Daniel is also very physical and enjoys shooting hoops in the basement, including lay-ups, mid-range shots and slow-motion imitations of Michael Jordan dunking! So I'll also have to figure out if can post videos. Daily I hear him say "Watch Michael Jordan" or "Watch Pete". We have Michael Jordan highlight videos and Pistol Pete homework basketball videos on shooting, dribbling, and passing, and Daniel would live in the basement watching these athletes while and doing his own imitations if he could get away with it. And since he knows how to run the VCR himself, he pretty much got away with it today. :)
