Half the time my older son resists diaper changes. The other half of the time he is running away from them.
So needless to say, these crossroads during the day are not my cup of tea, either. It sure helps to find something distracting to put into his hands during the procedure. Anything handy and within my reach will usually do except maybe a kitchen knife.
Today I decided to hit the "easy button" and do a stand-up diaper change here at home to avoid the usual struggle. I have perfected this technique (yeah, right!) for those times when restrooms with diaper-changing stations are JNA... You know, Just Not Available. Like at the Botanical Center... or the zoo... or the park playground...
So anyway, I pull off the diaper in a poorly lit room and what should come rolling toward me like a bowling ball?
NO, say it ain't so....!!!
Toddler squeals in delight, "POOPIE!!"
Mother retorts, "Daniel, you need to tell mommy when you have a poopie."
Mother ponders to self, "Stand-up diaper change...? What was I thinking???"
I honestly didn't smell it coming. Or I would have never tried this stunt.
Duh. Silly mommy. :)

Never had the rolling turd problem, but I have tried the stand up and found lots of smashed stuff which meant a fight to lie down to get it taken care of. It is all around...yuck!
